in 1996 in order to keep genealogical information on the internet FREE!
It is run by volunteers, who provide the various websites with transcripts of various items of interest to genealogists and other researchers.
U.S. GenWeb provides links to each state and county within the United States and provide free access to millions of records on their web pages.
You'll find a transcribed records of cemetery records, headstones, marriages, births, deaths, obituaries, census, newspapers,
tax, probate, military records, and many more. As with any volunteer organization, you will find some sites with more information than others.
